hi
I got the following error when building Galeon:(rpmbuild -tb galeon-2.0.7.tar.bz2)
checking which mozilla engine to use... configure: error: No gecko found
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.QZcWul (%build)

Is that because I didn't insatll Mozilla?
but I installed seamonkey.seemed it didn't work.
but Mozilla only has very old version, which version do I need?and my Galeon version is 2.0.7
I know that Gecko is a part of xulrunner and  will be installed when I installed xulrunner, and I did install xulrunner.
after I type export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig,I still got the same error!

Besides use rpmbuild -tb galeon-2.0.7.tar.bz2 to build Galeon source code,Is there another way to do that?
and how ?

Thanks in advance! I'd appreciate!
Richard

Hi, Richard,

Do you really need to build Galeon from source?  is there no binary
package already available for your distribution (what distribution are
you using)?

Regards,
Adrianna

Ah, I see.

"No gecko found" does probably mean that an appropriate gecko browser
is not being found.  If you are trying to compile both these versions
of Galeon, you will need very different versions of Mozilla; Galeon's
versions are tied to relatively specific versions of Mozilla.  The
newer versions of Galeon can also be built against Firefox or
Xulrunner.

You can find out which Mozilla versions will work with which Galeon
version from the Galeon homepage; I think the information can be found
in the release notes.

Good luck,
Adrianna
