"Save" or "Exit" buttonHi
I'd like to thank Sven for creating this wonderful programme and all the others who have given such great help on this forum. Is it possible to have a "Save" or "Exit" button on the full screen display. I like to use the organ with only a touchscreen and not have a mouse or keyboard connected. Thanks |

Re: "Save" or "Exit" buttonHi,
To toggle my touchscreen mode (full/normal) : I use Bome's Midi Translator Classic. I set it to create a F11 function from the MIDI message send by one key of a MIDI keyboard. In my case, I have selected the upper keynote of my third manual. It works nice. If it can help wainting a Sven solution. Re: "Save" or "Exit" buttonHi,
I would also like to get out of full screen mode, without using a mouse, so a button for this would be nice too. Currently, I use a method provided by my touch screen driver - it simulates 'right click' simply by holding still the same position on the touch screen, which then brings up the context menu where I select 'exit'. Regards, Brian.

Re: "Save" or "Exit" buttonHi Jaques,
Do you think one could have a physical 'stop' button that when pressed, will toggle full screen mode? Brian.

Re: 'Save' or 'Exit' buttonI would think that Sven should consider the request for this feature
seriously. Work-arounds that require the use of some external, auxiliary program such as "Bome" or "Midi-Ox" in order to achieve some relatively straightforward jOrgan functionality only further complicate the jOrgan implementation and should be discouraged -- except as interim "quick-and-dirty" stop-gap measures for the technically adventurous. Re: 'Save' or 'Exit' buttonRegarding the features as Sven required :
Both buttons 'Exit Fullscreen' and 'Exit jOrgan' should be available if set in Configuration menu. The reasons are : Peter, to secure his installation, should not have the 'Exit Fullscreen' button. I should not have the 'Exit jOrgan' button because I don't want this function from Fullscreen mode. Am I right ? Re: 'Save' or 'Exit' buttonJacues,
I would like the 2 buttons to work as follows: 1. Toggle Fulscreen mode'. 2. Exit jOrgan. 3. We could use the onscreen keyboard with the touchscreen if we really need a keyboard. What is your opinion about my 3 points here? Regards, Brian.

Brian

Re: 'Save' or 'Exit' buttonHi Brian,
In my opinion : 1. Toggle Fulscreen mode'. could be available with a new option in View -> Configuration menu For instance : [] Display 'Exit Full Screen' 2. Exit jOrgan. could be available with a new option in View -> Configuration menu For instance : [] Display 'Exit jOrgan with automatic saving and shutdown' In your case, you would have these 2 options checked. 3. We could use the onscreen keyboard with the touchscreen if we really need a keyboard. This option seems to me Off Topic. - Onscreen keyboard is a MIDI kb not an alphanumeric PC one (with a F11 key ...) Re: 'Save' or 'Exit' buttonHi Sven and All
Clarification and 'reasons why' I started this 'save' button thing I would like to have the virtual organ behave as much like a pipe organ as possible. The system is turned on with the pipe organ power switch and shut down with the switch. I know this is not proper shutdown procedure for the computer, but with Ubuntu it causes no problems EXCEPT that the combinations are not saved. I understand that jOrgan 3.8 keeps the combinations separate so is it possible to have the jOrgan combinations saved to the storage device and not just RAM when the combination is set. This is how a pipe organ works. When you set a combination it is stored in non-volatile memory. If you set the combinations, power the organ down and back up they are still there. If not possible it would be great to have that 'Save' button. It would be nice to have it even if the combinations can be stored separately to save things like tuning and volume. Down the road there will be another reason for wanting this. Think of a 'full-blown' virtual jOrgan organ. Real drawknobs or tabs, presets, and NO keyboard, mouse OR MONITOR. This isn't far fetched. There are many decent consoles from the old analogue organs that could be turned into fine sounding instruments with jOrgan. I'm sure there will be some who undertake this kind of project. Others have mentioned the desire for a 'Full screen toggle' and 'Exit' button. If these things could be made available to be linked to whatever the person putting together the disposition wants I'm sure many will be pleased. Looked at all of his posts, can't find it at the moment. Something about a "Headless" virtual organ - no computer monitor, mouse or computer keyboard. The idea was to set everything for automatic booting, ignore the error messages since they couldn't be seen anyway and use a short audio signal or pilot light to show the organist the instrument was ready. Sets up all his church organs like that. -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! Re: 'Save' or 'Exit' buttonHi Guys,
Yes, we can do 'headless' with jOrgan in Puppy, but we can't (yet) save the disposition except from a mouse or computer keyboard.. so all the memories are presets. Therefore a 'Save' button that is on the console screen and is MIDI actionable would be great. :-) There are ways to workaround it with software similar to Midi-Ox and scripts, but native functionality of this kind would be wonderful.
