"usbf_open_pipe failed" on Zaurus

Booting the July 2 4.4-beta bsd kernel I get the following:

usbf0 at pxaudc0: USB revision 1.1
cdcef0 at usbf0: usbf_open_pipe failed

Booting the bsd.rd kernel, the dmesg shows the following line:
cdcef0 at usbf0: address 2a:cb:00:00:00:00

I am able to configure the interface in the ramdisk kernel, but not in
generic (interface does not show up in ifconfig).

This is on a Zaurus 3200. Full dmesg below.
