(job) re: IELTS ExaminersThanks for the information, Vicki. It's good to know the possibilities.

Are you really finding this background doesn't qualify you?" I was a teacher in the US and in Mexico, but my degrees are in Music Education, not ESL. I've been teaching in China for ten years, but have learned by doing and by reading (books and this list). Because I don't have an ESL degree or a CELTA certificate, I am not qualified to apply, according to the person in Guangzhou who answered my question. I sent a question in to the list asking if anyone is an IELTS examiner with only a TEFL International certificate. I'm not sure if that post went through. Since then I found that the CELTA is offered at two locations in Vietnam, for a good price, so I may do that. I may even take it as early as January. Nancy in Nanning |

Be careful that you check out what is accepted. Some of the Vietnam and Thailand TESOL and TEFL sites are affiliated with some in China and are not accepted by the Chinese Educational Authorities even though they may be accepted by some Training Schools. They will not likely be accepted by Ministry of Education for the purposes of teaching at government sponsored schools or by government sponsored universities. Just thought you should know. HK or Singapore MAY be more likely to provide you with an authentic qualification.
