Bit of a late reply and that particular problem is fixed, but there remains the problem that something similar may happen again.
GMail is particularly useful in that it has the facility to forward emails as they are received so you can set it up to send copies of all incoming mail to say a yahoo account (also having huge storage limits and never expiring account). Possibly can send copies to more than one other account.
Then if gmail is ever blocked, you just go to the other account and read your emails. You can set the auxiliary accounts up so that the reply to address is that of your primary account so everything incoming comes to the primary account.
Another possibility for really critical stuff is to get that sender to create a group for you so that every email they send goes to a couple of backup email providers. Then you will always be able to read the important stuff.
In the bad old days (not all that long ago) I went through four providers because of access problems.
