I'd be interested in listmembers' opinions of the value/accuracy of the following website, designed to help people (teachers in particular) decide about / prepare for / adjust to life in China:

http://middlekingdomlife.com/guide/

Do other people have websites to suggest for those considering moving to (or maybe just arrived in China) life in China?

This is an excellent source of information.  I wish I had something like this before I went to China.  There is a lot of good basic information tempered by personal experience will go a long way in understanding what is really happening or at least making some sense.

Well worth the read but I would not make it my only source of information.

As a contributor to MKL, I'd say the information is top notch, and painstakingly compiled and collated. The articles will help both newcomers and old timers alike to have insights on life in China. Dr. Greg does his best to keep the information up to date, and relies on people like us to make sure that the info is on point.

I like it, though I consider some things inaccurate.

For example, they have quite a bit of material dating & marriage,
understanding Chinese women, ... much of which I found interesting.
I'd say every single foreign male here should have a look, and many
of the women might find it interesting as well.

However, I thought their discussion of narcissism among Chinese
women was well over the top. Probably everything they say should
be subjected to liberal use of the saltshaker.

Sandy,

Thanks for the link. I found it very interesting. I'm starting my third year hear in Shanghai and the author's viewpoint rings true to my experience so far here in China. I also agree with you that a good measure of critical thinking is always in store! Thanks again for sharing. It's a very helpful site!
