(life) thrift storePosted by: "Satina Anziano" satina_9@...
Fri Oct 2, 2009 5:17 am (PDT) Hi again, I really do wish we could get better organized about advertising our stuff here. When I was planning to come here, in early June, I asked the FAO if she would put me in touch with the departing expat so I could see if he/she wanted to leave any stuff behind. She refused. Probably didn't want any exchange of gossip, or maybe she seriously believed he had bought nothing in the 10 months here? In fact, we four foreigners find we all had to go out and buy a set of spoon/fork/knife, toaster, dinner plate etc. within our first weeks here. Any suggestions? Can we start a new branch of TEFLChina--Recycle? Satina Anziano -------------- I know that there are "Free Cycle" sites in China too but I suspect that they are started by foreigners and that no one really looks at them. However, it is a good idea on these lists, if enough people are interested. Could there be a "TEFL Free Cycle" site? 1996 I gave away a lot when I was given three days to leave the country after being here for four years. No time to organize sales in that situation. Re: (life) thrift storeIs it possible that these scenarios (below) are deliberately orchestrated so
that people on site may benefit? I must say that on two occasions I relinquished a ton of stuff to whomever....And I have heard of situations where things boxed and labelled for incoming FTs mysteriously disappeared. Between 2008 and 2004 there were no other teachers. I've never set aside anything for teachers coming after me unless they arrive before I leave. Then they get first dibs on whatever I have. Also, if there are other foreign teachers in the same area who are interested they also can come and see what I have or I can deliver the items they want to them. Jada A Hui Hou!
