Succinct.

Obligatory thread hijack ... what minimum CPU performance is necessary
for single track piano capture using MIDI via USB?

Pentium should suffice, 386 could maybe do it.

The old atari is overkill for the midi-part. If you find a 386 (or even 286)
with usb interface, try it and tell us if it really doesn't work because of
cpu performance.

This is awesome. Someone should start a thread of just nothing, and .sigs.

We could call it  4'33"

That's so much more Cage'ian!  Incidental messages, Empty Words :)
Great stuff.  Not only do we discover that there is a FLOSS
experimental music label but also LAU is Cage compatible.  All this
within the same week.

Yeah but there could well be copyright issues if one person quotes another

No, until now citations are allowed if they stay within reasonable size
compared to the original. So you aren't allowed to quote the full silence but
quoting short extracts from empty mails is okay... (*)

Arnold

(*) Of course, german newspapers are working towards making citations non-free
of charge. :-/

And what does DRM have to say about your unauthorized citation of silence? Hmm?

Forget about DRM. What does the RIAA say about your unauthorized use of
silence in your music?

Oh, and you mean the "going-out-of-business newspapers"?

If I sample some funky silence, do you think they can work out if I stole it from Michael Jackson or from James Brown?

depends on whose lawyers notice your copyright infringement first.

It might be interesting to blindfold some lawyers and run some samples
past their ears to see if they could identify the original source with
any accuracy at all. ;-)
