I'm sorry if what I said in my message wasn't clear. I said: "Although
teaching grammar may be an interesting introduction to how things work, it
is a surprisingly feeble way to help students acquire grammar."
Grammar instruction, as an introduction to the grammar, helps but is very
feeble in most cases.
And in many cases, grammar instruction is absolutely toxic, fatal to a
student's language learning effort.
