Dave wrote about debating as a way of improving students' English.  In a similar vein ... we are taking part in the CCTV English Speaking contest for the first time this year.  We held a preliminary competition on campus in September and will send our winner to Guangzhou later this month.  Does anyone have any experience with this competition?

Hi Vicki,
I do have a fair amount of experience in Public Speaking to the extrent of having written a booklet entitled "SECS and the Art of Public Speaking." I adapted this when I was coaching Oral English classes at a University in China and subsequently used a 3 minute Public speech as my vehicle for the Oral tests.
If you are interested I could send you a copy offlist.
Regards
Graham
