[] structuring IDSO discussion

Hi all,

Thanks for the messages - it seems that there are quite a few good ideas that we may want to discuss, and I'd suggest that we split some of the topics apart.

One possible split is as follows:

a) definitional (e.g. what is information, what is self-organisation, etc.);
b) relevance/usefulness of information
c) stigmergic information flow / coordination / coupled systems;
d) information-driven criteria vs physics/.../engineering design methods;
e) strong IDSO
f) weak IDSO
There are, of course, other ways to structure the discussion - please feel free to suggest other topics. I'll try to reply to some recent questions using the structure above, with different messages having a corresponding subject line, but that shouldn't prevent anyone coming up with new subjects :)

Thanks,
Mikhail

Thank you very much, Mikhail, for this email.
I was going to suggest you to try to do precisely what you have done:
periodically jump in as list moderator and try to summarise and shape the
discussion with the goal of structuring it around few main topics.
This not only helps people focussing the discussion (= avoiding to jump from
one topic to the other), but it also helps them identifying core problems.
This might be very useful in the future if we will try to direct our efforts
towards producing some 'objects' to 'deliver' outside the list, e.g.
positions papers on specific problems, IDSO workshop/conference, etc.

So, if nobody disagees, I suggest you continue to play this 'catalyst' role
systematically.

Regards,
Gianluca
