Summary: XML-RPC setUser() password problems

Initial Comment:
Exist 1.4.0.  In advance, sorry for this fague report.

It is simple to use the authentication headers to represent "login" information of a user. But when I change a password via "setUser()" in XML-RPC, I am unable to login (in any way). I have tried so many different things... too many to include here.  Any coding example which should work, or is it simply broken?
