Summary: opcontrol cannot start daemon in timer mode

Initial Comment:
opcontrol --start  in timer mode shows  "oprofiled: no events specified." error.

OProfile 0.9.5 -  ARM/Linux Debian 5 "Lenny".  Boot arg  oprofile.timer=1
Running in timer mode due to Cortex-a8 hw bug with perf counters.   OMAP3 cpu.
