[1.7 2009-07-01] cygrunsrv not responding? For a few months with my own CVS cygwin1.dll builds, as well now with
the last few snapshots, I can't get cron to start: $ net start cron The service is not responding to the control function. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2186. Reverting to 1.7.0-50 cygwin1.dll fixes this problem. I don't think it was a very recent CVS change since I had this problem with my CVS builds before 1.7.0-50, but the issue was not present in the release. I guess it must be something in common with my, and the snapshot, build process that is different from the release process? Cron is installed as a service under the cyg_server user. Reinstalling the service does not change the behavior. Any ideas on how to debug this? -- Brian Ford Staff Realtime Software Engineer VITAL - Visual Simulation Systems FlightSafety International the best safety device in any aircraft is a well-trained crew... -- Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple |

It was a stupid permissions problem. The cyg_server user didn't have permission to the newly installed CVS or snapshot cygwin1.dll, but the setup installed release had correct permissions.
