#10148: VoIP with asterisk using XMPP protocol#10148: VoIP with asterisk using XMPP protocol
-----------------------------+---------------------------------------------- Reporter: skliarie | Owner: Maiku Type: defect | Status: new Component: Voice and Video | Version: 2.6.1 Keywords: | -----------------------------+---------------------------------------------- I have asterisk 1:1.6.2.0~dfsg~beta3-1 with XMPP (Jingle) gateway. When I call the asterisk (skliarouk@...) using official GTalk client, I am able to hear the asterisk welcome message properly. If I make a voice call to the same contact from pidgin 2.6.1, I don't hear a thing. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10148> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

Currently it auto-pickups the phone and plays greeting message to everybody who calls in. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10148#comment:3> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Reporter: skliarie | Owner: Maiku Type: defect | Status: new Milestone: | Component: Voice and Video Version: 2.6.1 | Resolution: Keywords: | ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Comment(by Maiku): Just from a quick glance it looks like the Asterisk server is only sending a local candidate (192.168.1.1). The protocol looks a little odd to me. It could very well be that Pidgin and Asterisk are using a slightly different form of the GTalk protocol. I'll be able to test it in more detail later, but I hope this helps. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10148#comment:4> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Reporter: skliarie | Owner: Maiku Type: defect | Status: new Milestone: | Component: Voice and Video Version: 2.6.1 | Resolution: Keywords: | ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Comment(by skliarie): As GTalk is able to communicate with Asterisk using the XMPP Jingle (VoIP of GTalk), I would suspect that the protocol non-conformance is on pidgin's side. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10148#comment:5> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

Did you have a chance to check the GTalk protocol incompatibility between Pidgin and asterisk? -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10148#comment:6> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Reporter: skliarie | Owner: Maiku Type: defect | Status: new Milestone: | Component: Voice and Video Version: 2.6.1 | Resolution: Keywords: | ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Comment(by thiago): Asterisk uses regular XMPP Jingle (XEP-166). GTalk uses Google's version of Jingle. There is indeed an issue with NAT traversal in Pidgin, I will suggest then to give a shot on Jingle Nodes Specs for being simple enough to solve it right in the next release. ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Reporter: skliarie | Owner: Maiku Type: defect | Status: new Milestone: | Component: Voice and Video Version: 2.6.1 | Resolution: Keywords: | ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Comment(by Maiku): It looks like there is a subtle protocol difference. There are two forms of what GTalk can use, a newer one and an older one. I'm not sure if Asterisk is implementing the one and Pidgin is implementing the other, but Asterisk is sending its transports in <transport> nodes whereas Pidgin doesn't recognize these and I suppose isn't receiving any transports then. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10148#comment:8> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |
