#10672: Away Messages Not Reported When Hiding Buddy Details on Ubuntu 9.10

Hey folks,
I keep buddy details hidden because I like a compact buddy list. On
Ubuntu 9.04, if I hovered over an away buddy a tooltip would appear with
some info and then a line that said "Away: " + that buddy's away message.
On Ubuntu 9.10 I only see "Away". After re-enabling buddy details, I see
buddy away messages in the preview line. If I then RE-disable buddy
details and hover I see what I was expecting: "Away: " + the away message
that displayed in the preview line when I enabled buddy details.
If its helpful to know, I use Pidgin exclusively with an AIM account and
AIM buddies.
Guidance?
