However, Pidgin reads their IMs as having white on white and I have to highlight everything just to read it. I think a simple solution to this would be a plugin that could just make it uniform. I've been told Pidgin is much better and I enjoy the simplicity, but as for now, its unusable because the two people I talk to most are difficult to chat with under these conditions.
