#10733: loosing 2nd line of text#10733: loosing 2nd line of text
---------------------------------+------------------------------------------ Reporter: kronostm | Owner: sulabh.dev Type: defect | Status: new Component: Yahoo!/Yahoo! JAPAN | Version: 2.6.3 Keywords: | ---------------------------------+------------------------------------------ A very strange bug that I could not find in any bug reports: sometimes (not always) the 2nd line of text that I type to a YM account (after initiating a conversation) does not appear to the destination. example: initiating conversation: typing : line1 <- enter typing : line2 -< enter typing : line3 <- enter the recipient does not receive line 2. * I just opened debug window again and it seems this time line 3 was skipped, this is new. However, even if both sides close the IM window, the second identical attempt is successful, line2 appears. the debug window shows the following: 11:34:31) yahoo: yahoo_html_to_codes(line0 - > line1)=line0 - > line1 (11:34:31) network: Listening on port: 5101 (11:34:31) yahoo: 40 bytes to read, rxlen is 60 (11:34:31) yahoo: Yahoo Service: 0x4f Status: 11 (11:34:33) yahoo: yahoo_html_to_codes(line2)=line2 (11:34:33) network: Couldn't create UPnP mapping (11:34:33) network: Couldn't create UPnP mapping (11:34:33) yahoo: p2p: 78 bytes to read (11:34:33) yahoo: p2p: Yahoo Service: 0x4d Status: 0 (11:34:33) yahoo: p2p: 78 bytes to read (11:34:33) yahoo: p2p: Yahoo Service: 0x4d Status: 0 (11:34:33) yahoo: p2p: 78 bytes to read (11:34:33) yahoo: p2p: Yahoo Service: 0x4d Status: 0 (11:34:36) yahoo: yahoo_html_to_codes(line3)=line3 (11:34:36) yahoo: p2p: Error in connection, or host disconnected (11:34:38) yahoo: p2p: 75 bytes to read However, if I type multiple lines inside the same message, everything is fine. example: line1 line2 line3 <-enter From the debug report I guess there's some temporary disconnection yahoo: p2p: Error in connection, or host disconnected Any clues? -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10733> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

JAPAN Version: 2.6.3 | Resolution: Keywords: | ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Changes (by sulabh.dev): * status: new => pending Comment: This appears to be an issue where you connect to your buddy via p2p, and for some reason you get disconnected. This results in loss of a packet. The buddy is then marked to be connected through server only, hence later messages go through without any loss. If you want me to take a look into the issue as to why there was a packet loss / disconnection, you will have to provide me with the packet capture from the time you first message the buddy (after logging in) to the time when message loss happens. Also attach the debug log of the same incidence. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10733#comment:1> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

This only specifies what packets were transmitted, there are no details of what was contained in those packets. I need them to be able to fix this bug. Run the following command as root, "tcpdump -i <interface> -s0 -w <file- name>", replace the <interface> with whatever interface you are capturing on, and provide a filename for <file-name>. Now from Pidgin start debugging, then login into your account, reproduce the error. Save debug window contents, quit tcpdump.
