[67cat] [news] NetCAT Status Report - 12.Hello team,
I am sending out the last NetCAT 6.7 status report and I would like to thank its all regular readers! 1. *Current status* There's not much to say about the previous week but let's try. :-) NetCAT program has entered its final phase. We are producing RC builds and trying to certify one as FCS. Although only ~4.6 e-mails daily were sent, still 31 bugs in total were found (~4.4 issues per day). FYI, I am attaching two already known charts with final weekly data. 2. *Important stuff* * _Community Acceptance survey_ [1] will be closed on Thursday this week so if you didn't submit your verdict about NetBeans 6.7, don't hesitate too long. So far, already 125 folks participated. Michael Nascimento, do you really want to be the last respondent? ;-) [1] http://qa.netbeans.org/processes/cat/67/ca_survey.html * We would like to _release RC3 tomorrow_ , however everything depends on decision about #166714. For more details see RC3 status page [2] in Wiki. [2] http://wiki.netbeans.org/NB67RC3GoNoGo * Michel Graciano discovered that _sometimes "Change Method Parameters..." refactoring throws NPE_ (#166810). This issue was P1 for 12 hours but since we believe it's only P3 in reality, the bug fix stays in trunk only. * Eric Smith reported that scanning of _built-in JRuby platform_ is always performed no matter it was already done before (#166939). Eric, please give it another try with RC3 as there is a suspicion that #166715 fixed this. Thanks! * Ulf Zibis was satisfied with _Editor performance_ in RC2 in terms of fast opening Java files due to collapsing code folds and faster Navigator. Don't you want to revise your #166668 Ulf? * Daniel Sheppard was playing with _Scala integration_ in development builds but couldn't get his test run (#166841). Hong Wei Deng (NetBeans Dream Team member) fixed this [68cat] :-) bug promptly. * The best 15 NetCAT participants plus 3 outstanding ones are going to be determined during next week and announced on Monday - June 29th. 3. *Bug hunting* * Eric Smith reported that his _IDE deadlocked_ (#166935) during generation of entity classes from database. Luckily this seems to be not reproducible. As usually, in order to fix this we need at least one FTD [3]. [3] http://wiki.netbeans.org/GenerateThreadDump * Regarding the other Nigel Leck's _performance degradation_ (#166714), it looks like we have fixed what was doable (2 out of 3 subproblems) and the remaining stuff (slow "Go to Type" _right after_ file modification) will have to wait for 6.8. We have some possible solution but it could potentially destabilize the other core functionality. :-\ * Both Eric Smith (#167025) and Neil Green (#167003) noticed that _Installer_ insists on specifying target location for application server in spite of user's intention not to install it. Luckily the problem occurred only in trunk builds and is fixed already. * Georg Schmid found out that in some scenario _Ctrl+P does not Show Method Parameters_ (#166791). The same error does not work in 6.5. * The final best bug reporter of the last week was Eric M. Smith with 11 bugs. Actually he won in 2/3 weeks (8 out of 12). Very good Eric! 4. *Statistics* Bugs submitted: 724 (+31) Open bugs: 275 (3/18/225/25/4) E-mails: 1574 (+32) Any ideas for the next status report? Too late... :-) Best regards, -Jirka |

So it still would be worth to first do the collapsing, so user could immediately start editing, scrolling etc. Only on small project current speed is acceptable. -Ulf BTW: Adding graphics as PNG would save footprint of posting |

Thanks for clarification of this. > BTW: Adding graphics as PNG would save footprint of posting Yes, I know. I though that 70kB was not that big deal. :-) -Jirka |

[67cat] [mobile] RC3 doesn't recognize Nokia S60 3rd FP2 SDK 1.1 as a MIDP platformHi,
Just installed RC3 and it doesn't recognize Nokia S60 3rd FP2 SDK 1.1 as a MIDP platform. RC2 did successfully recognize the platform. Bug or feature? Iwan |

Does it recognize any ME platform? --Petr Iwan Eising wrote: > Hi, > > Just installed RC3 and it doesn't recognize Nokia S60 3rd FP2 SDK 1.1 as a > MIDP platform. Re: [67cat] [mobile] RC3 doesn't recognize Nokia S60 3rd FP2 SDK 1.1 as a MIDP platformWell, that's something interesting to ask. It does recognize my SDK 3.0 installation (not the one integrated with NB, but one I installed myself), it recognizes my Sony Ericsson SDK. But it doesn't recognize my Nokia SDK's, I need to add them my self by selecting the folder they are in (Nokia/Series6/Devices) and than it recognizes them (I have the S60 3rd FP2 SDK 1.1 and the N97 SDK), but it will only allow me to add the N97 SDK. The S60 3rd FP2 SDK 1.1 is not checked and I can't check it. NB tells me to add it as a custom MIDP platform.

Re: [67cat] [news] NetCAT Status Report - 12.The issue#166714 has been fixed but was not included in rc3 it's the cause of a lot of the performance regression, the issue#167399 hasn't been fixed yet.
These issues are a big deal for those projects with large code bases.
