Hello everyone,

today I have some good news for you. I am sure that majority of you already know that NetBeans 6.7 was released today and since many of you put a lot of effort into this release we would like to recognize some of you. I have queried IssueZilla, mailing list archive plus other sources and calculated activity of each individual. The final and detailed comparison [1] is publicly available for your review. As promised in advance, we decided to recognize best 15 participants who will receive a special NetCAT 6.7 windbreaker!

[1] http://qa.netbeans.org/processes/cat/67/activity.html

In addition to that we wanted to give a special reward to top 3 contributors. In order to find out who deserves this recognition we asked NetBeans engineers and also you - NetCAT team to nominate the best participants. So, let me congratulate to the following 3 persons: Nigel Leck, Eric M. Smith and Daniel Sheppard. These guys will receive a unique NetCAT 6.7 sunglasses from us!

If you belong to the group of recognized people, please send me _privately_ your postal address so that I know where to send the reward _AND_ your preferred size: L, XL or XXL.

Finally, I would like to really thank to all who reported bugs, provided more investigations, shared own projects etc. You all together did an outstanding job and influenced quality of NetBeans 6.7 significantly. So, thanks a lot!

Wow, I just missed the threshold, should have put [67cat] on a couple
more issues. Good thing I don't need a new windbreaker anyway. ;)

Hi!

Even though I could not have participated as much as I wanted, it was nice to help you.
(Un)lucky for me, my NB always seem to be working, even though I've been using it to edit some of my production code - it had a serious problem only once! :/ (under other circumstances I'm very happy of it!)

Keep well and see you at the next CAT!

Hi Jiri,
Well first of all its great to see that 6.7 is released and a big thank you for the netbeans developers and the 67cat team members whom without them this wont be a success.

I am totally surprised by after seeing the final and detailed comparison[1] of  the activity of netcat 6.7 participants.I have become second in the list without staying till the middle part of the program and feels sad that i couldn't continue till the end and if i had then the activity table would be much different like the one we had in 65cat :-) .

Anyway i just want to clarify that am i also included in the best 15 participants according to that list  or the community has decided the best 15 participants ?

Again big thanks for the efforts put in by our fellow netcat team members.

cheers,
Rajiv

Hi Rajiv,

thanks for your nice words. Community didn't determine the order of participants, it was the formula and total number of points collected by each individual. Grand prize winners however were selected by the NetBeans Engineering team.

And yes you are entitled to receiving the windbreaker. I will send it to your postal address you gave me during NetCAT 6.5 program, correct?

Hope this helps,
-Jirka

Jirka,

Just wanted to point out that I definitely like the new approach to netcat compared to previous years.  I think the discussions were more thorough now without people trying to make sure to earn enough points for a t-shirt.  I also didn't feel guilty on not helping out as much as I have in the past because there were so many more members this time through.

Keep up the good work.

Aaron
