[67cat][core] Plugins import

Hi All,

Been having off/on issues with plugins import from my existing 6.5 directory. Different versions behaved differently i.e. some nightly builds found the plugins and there was a list ot plugins to import in the Plugins Import window while others didn't have a list. RC3 is the latest version to alert on availability of plugins to import but the list of plugins is empty.

See attached screenshot.

Thanks

Deji

Hi Deji,

As you can see, there are 3 lists in the dialog.
The first one contains plugins which were found in previous installation
and are also available for the new version of NetBeans IDE.
Those are usually the plugins which are the part of the NetBeans IDE
itself or which are updated regularly.

The second list contains plugins which were found in previous
installation and not been updated to the new version of NetBeans IDE.
Nevertheless they are marked compatible (or should be such) so you can
import them after checking each plugin.
By default, all the plugins are now unchecked in that list.

The third one contains the plugins which were developed for the
particular NB version (e.g. for 6.5.x) and will not work for the
subsequent releases.

Running different IDE versions (latest daily, old dailies, 6.7 RC3) can
give different lists of plugins since the version differs.

Thanks,
Dmitry

I seems that your RC3 build was offline or had not processed all Update
Center yet. Did you have any network problem when starting that IDE?

Plugin Importer checks content of Update Centers for available plugins,
at first. If some of them are not available on no one Update Center then
are offered in the list of plugins which can be imported but might be
incompatible. Items on this list are unchecked by default. It's your
case I guess.

So, make sure your IDE is online, then clean your NB6.7RC3 userdir and
restart IDE again - some of your plugins should be offered in the first
list, rest in the second.

The specification for this feature is at
http://wiki.netbeans.org/ImportPluginsFromReleaseToRelease
