I don't believe we intend to ellipsize side tabs at all, and I don't see that here with my right-side tabs. I can confirm this for Linux/Ubuntu now as well. You can replicate it by temporarily renaming two users to eg. "MaSc" and "MaHa". This issue seems to be rather finicky to reproduce, I can get it to happen with the two names you suggest, but not with many other four letter names. Try renaming two users to the same eg. "sh3mo" and open both, same thing. Since I don't merge ppl using multiple protocols, I have this pretty often. At work we use 4 letter abbreviations for all users in sametime, in fact I get it much more often, than it works correctly, so it's way from sporadic in this case. With same length users I would assume the problem is that inactive tabs are usually slightly smaller than active ones, thus the width calculated for an active tab is not always sufficient for an inactive one.
