#9553: Ubuntu user switcher integration breaks (one way only)#9553: Ubuntu user switcher integration breaks (one way only)
----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: monsieurrigsby | Owner: rekkanoryo Type: defect | Status: new Component: unclassified | Version: 2.5.7 Keywords: ubuntu | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- This may be non-fixable at Pidgin's end but.... In Ubuntu (I think in Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 and onwards), Pidgin nicely integrates with the user switcher function. See the attached screenshot: changing the status on the switcher drop down changes the Pidgin status and vice versa. However, when upgrading via the Pidgin Ubuntu PPA, this breaks: it only works one way (changing status in Pidgin). (Re)changing the status in the user switcher doesn't do anything (neither the switcher nor Pidgin changes status). Fairly minor, and may be down to Ubuntu's config., but would be nice to correct if possible in the PPA release. I can't confirm whether this still happens in the latest Ubuntu release (9.04)... -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9553> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

I've uploaded a backport of the fast-user-switch-applet package to the PPA. Can you updated and let me know if it works--ideally without it causing more problems? Thanks! -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9553#comment:4> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

I've installed it (fast- user-switch-applet now version 2.24.0-0ubuntu7~pidgin2), but behaviour still exactly as before. Let me know if this isn't the version it's supposed to be. -- Ticket URL: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9553#comment:5> Pidgin <http://pidgin.im> Pidgin _______________________________________________ Tracker mailing list Tracker@... http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tracker |

Great fix, thanks (no other issues seen with the backported version).
