New description:

 Edit: One difference is that not all of my yahoo accounts do this.  Just
 one of them takes issue. I have verified the password and it turns up
 nothing new.

 I have seen this issue before, and usually clears up after a while. The
 fact that your other yahoo id's work well, whereas this one gets locked
 means it is not a libpurple issue.[[BR]]
 One thing you can try: When pidgin says your account is locked, try to
 login using the official yahoo client and see the behavior, and report it
 to us. Do this without logging into the yahoo website or using any other
 yahoo service.

 Yeah.  Thats what it looks to be.  It ended up righting itself after a bit
 but it was almost a day til I could get back on.  Yahoo has been acting
 really funny these days.

 The closest I could do for sulabh.dev's solution would be to log in using
 Kopete.  I am on pure Linux so there is no Yahoo client for linux (nor one
 I would want to run under Wine).  Ever since they got in bed with
 Microsoft, I have been leery of downloading any of the newer pure Yahoo
 clients.

 We do not have enough information suggesting it to be a "defect". With no
 information at all, there is nothing that I can do.[[BR]]
 Getting locked is rarely reported, and it clears on its own, which
 suggests that the reasons might be beyond libpurple/Pidgin.

 I am also suffering from this affliction.  (Over and over again)

 When I received the message from pidgin, I downloaded and ran the official
 Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 client.  The message I received when trying to login
 is:

 Sign-In Problem
   Your account has been locked. (81003003)

 When I receive this message, I can login to my.yahoo.com and then re-
 enable the account in pidgin, and it is able to connect again.  However if
 I leave pidgin up for days, the next time I login, it fails again (with
 the lockout).

 Clues:

 I do not have this problem with other libpurple clients (adium).

 I do not have this problem in pidgin with other Yahoo! accounts, only this
 one.  One difference with this account is that it has several different
 Yahoo! aliases tied to it.
