1. Have you submitted your Lightning Session topic yet?

If not, you could miss your 10-minutes of fame to show off your 4D v11
SQL tip or trick. It's a great way to deliver a short, but
information-packed presentation to other 4D attendees.

Lightning Sessions (or Lightning Talks) are defined by wikipedia, as "a
short presentation given at a conference or similar forum. Unlike other
presentations, lightning talks last only a few minutes and several will
usually be delivered in a single period by different speakers."

Check out the Lightning Session website for a sample video, requirements
and more information. A prize will be awarded to the best session.
Lightning Session topics are due June 12.

This Week's Topic: SQL Data Types in 4D v11 SQL

With the introduction of SQL into 4D, developers have been granted the
ability to natively modify their database structures programmatically
via SQL’s Data Definition Language. In doing so, developers need to
specify data types that are compliant with the SQL type names. These
types correspond to 4D data types and while the mapping works without a
hitch, there are a few specifics to be aware of.
