Summary: request for other build tools included in kdevelop4
                    (bjam)
           Product: kdevelop
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kdevelop-bugs@...
        ReportedBy: jsardid@...

Version:           4 (using KDE 4.3.3)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

I really like kdevelop4 and I would love to move from kdevelop3 to kdevelop4
right now, but some of my projects use bjam builder, so I cannot move until
something similar to kdevelop3 is created for kdevelop4. In kdevelop3 there was
an option for other builders, which was located in "Build Options" and then
indicating the "Name of build script" when selecting "Other" in "Build Tool".
But I'm completely lost in Kdevelop4 when I try to do something similar, I
think it is not possible yet as far as I know.

I saw that there is the possibility if Makefile exist for the project but for
these projects I don't even have Makefiles. What I would need would be to add
the builder pathway (where bjam resides) within the "Project Options" like in
kdevelop3.

Thanks in advance

You can use the generic project manager, it'll simply take all files and
folders in your project directory. With that you won't be able to build your
project from inside kdevelop, but many other things will work.

Also you could write a makefile that calls your own builder.

Nonetheless, it would of course be useful if a custom command could be supplied
for building.

Thanks for your comments, you opened my mind :) so I will move to kdevelop4,
anyway, as David also said, I think it would be nice to have this custom
command within kdevelop4.

Best!
