[Bug 41314] NEW: Wireless connection repeatedly drops out then reconnects with Atheros and Madwifihttps://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=41314
Summary: Wireless connection repeatedly drops out then reconnects with Atheros and Madwifi Product: Mandriva Linux Version: 2008.1 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: normal Component: Core Packages AssignedTo: triage@... ReportedBy: cyprix@... QAContact: bugs@... The wireless connection will drop out and then return in 10sec to 3min. This is with Atheros chipset powered by madwifi drivers. The exact same connections (cards, aps, computers etc) under 2008.0 were rock solid. I have found this to occur with my: D-Link DWL-G520 PCI Card (reports as AR5212/AR5213) D-Link DWl-G680 PCMCIA Card (reports as AR5212/AR5213) I also have a Netgear PCI Card to test if necessary - however it is also a AR5212/AR5213 card. I have been tested with different connections: Unsecured - not tested WEP - occurs WPA/WPA2 - occurs WPA-EAP - occurs Solid: 2008.0 with madwifi-0.9.3.2-3mdv2008.0 Unstable: 2008.1 with madwifi-0.9.3.3-5.r3114mdv2008.1 I have only found this under 32bit, I have not tested 64bit. My initial thoughts were that it may have been a changed environment (even though i did not believe it had changed), however too many different environments tested have had the same issue. This was previously mentioned on: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.mandrake.cooker.devel/280100 What information do you need from me to help solve this? ------ Original Bug Text: ------ The wireless connection will drop out and then return in 10sec to 3min. I also got these link beat detected and link beat lost -messages to my syslog. Obviously, that stopped when i killed the ifplugd but it didn't solve the problem. Summary : Wireless connection repeatedly drops out then reconnects with Atheros and Madwifi Product : Mandriva Linux Component : Core Packages Version : 2008.1 RPM Package: madwifi Keywords : Triaged Status : NEW Severity : critical Priority : normal Assigned To: oblin@... Reported By: cyprix@... --- Comment #12 from Mikko Kuivaniemi <plafe@...> 2008-06-25 19:48:27 CEST --- I quickly tested newest svn version of madwifi (r3745) and it seems to work way better, at least for me. So far, there has been no station disassociated -messages on my APs logs. I made some rpms in case someone want's to test them. I removed all patches including EEE stuff. Here's the i586 builds: http://plafe.silmukka.net/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.5-1.r3745mdv2008.1.i586.rpm http://plafe.silmukka.net/madwifi/dkms-madwifi-0.9.5-1.r3745mdv2008.1.i586.rpm and here's the src.rpm in case you are interested: http://plafe.silmukka.net/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.5-1.r3745mdv2008.1.src.rpm Just in case these doesn't work for you, I suggest that you download the old rpms to your harddrive before testing these. ------ Original Bug Text: ------ The wireless connection will drop out and then return in 10sec to 3min.
