I'm sorry, I was wrong with this: it's not installing cpufrequtils that solves
the problem.

How to reproduce this bug:
install mandriva 2010 and boot in kde: everything works
reboot: bug. No cpu scaling and screen brightness control

The bug was fixed in my system, but not by installing cpufrequtils but by
DISABLING SPEEDBOOT.

disable speedboot and reboot: it works

Speedboot is causing a lot of headaches!

Please, reclassify this as a bug against initscripts.

Confirmed in my two computers with Mandriva 2010.0. Speedboot killed my working
power configuration in my desktop computer and in my laptop. Disabling
Speedboot fixes both.

It is a bit more complicated... I have now 5 machines, 4 with 2010.0 updated
The CPU frequency is not correctly managed with the laptops.

x86_64 Dual Core AMD Athlon 4000+ - pilote : powernow-k8
range 1000 MHz - 2.10 GHz works at 1000 MHz : works perfectly (still
2009.1)

x86_64 Pentium Dual-Core E5400 - pilote : acpi-cpufreq
      range 1.20 GHz - 2.70 GHz works at 1.20 GHz : perfect

x86_64 Intel Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E7300 - pilote : acpi-cpufreq
      range 1.60 GHz - 2.67 GHz works at 1.60 GHz : perfect

i686 Intel Celeron M (EeePC 900) - pilote : p4-clockmod
range 113 MHz - 900 MHz - works at 900 MHz (max speed...)

i686 Intel Pentium 4 (Amilo) - pilote : p4-clockmod
range 333 MHz - 2.67 GHz - works at 2.67 GHz (max speed...)

1- I have noticed that CPU frequency is always maximum after the boot when the
machine is waiting with kdm (CPU 99.7%idle): it is necessary to open a session
to make the cpufreq management work.

2- The driver p4-clockmod works very bad.
  - on EeePC, it does nothing - always at max speed in each mode.
  - on Amilo it can slow down to 666 MHz if I enforce the extrem power save.
But with previous releases it was waiting at 333 MHz and the speed was
increasing by steps of 333 MHz
: 333 MHz, 667 MHz, 1000 MHz, 1.33 GHz, 1.67 GHz, 2.00 GHz, 2.33 GHz, 2.67 GHz

3- I have added in grub speedboot=no without any effect on the 2 laptops

This is a great regression for the laptops...
