[Bug libc/10885] New: xlocale supportPlease consider adding support for Darwin-style locale support, as in:
http://developer.apple.com/Mac/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man3/xlocale.3.html These functions make unnecessary to synchronize a multi-threaded program on setlocale. The Windows C runtime supports analogous functions. -- Summary: xlocale support Product: glibc Version: 2.12 Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: libc AssignedTo: drepper at redhat dot com ReportedBy: dan dot colascione at gmail dot com CC: glibc-bugs at sources dot redhat dot com http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10885 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. |

[Bug libc/10885] xlocale support------- Additional Comments From jakub at redhat dot com 2009-11-02 09:19 ------- Why don't you bother to check the facts? glibc supports the APIs for very long time (some of the APIs already since 1999 or so, further ones since 2002), and GNU C library has been the library where these have been originally invented. See http://people.redhat.com/drepper/tllocale.ps.gz for details, the APIs are now standardized in POSIX 2008. So, please don't call this Darwin-style locale support. -- What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10885 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. |

[Bug libc/10885] xlocale support------- Additional Comments From dan dot colascione at gmail dot com 2009-11-02 09:31 ------- Thank you for the link to the informative paper. I don't see any mention of uselocale in the documentation that comes with glibc, however. How was I supposed to know about this feature? Should I file a new documentation bug instead? -- What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |REOPENED Resolution|INVALID | http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10885 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. |

[Bug libc/10885] xlocale support------- Additional Comments From drepper at redhat dot com 2009-11-02 17:43 ------- Stop reopening bugs. This is no place to ask question. And unless you write the documentation yourself don't bother complaining. -- What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10885 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. |
