As this was already suggested/asked for inclusion in mandriva packages,
and since odf-converter is already at version 3.0, and there are test-cases
and so on please see this message as a *bump*.
Is somebody working on this? I could provide some src.rpms built for
mandriva 2009.1 with some additions/modifications to the well-maintained
upstream suse packages.

As a sidenote, odf-converter is also available as openoffice extension,
but i don't know if this works and how tell because i didn't test this yet.

Ping?
Would be nice to have this included into 2010.0, WDYT?

I guess there isn't anyone working on that. By working with a extension
would be good. Anyway since you can work on packaging odf-converter
there isn't any objection and the more we improve our openoffice suite
the more attractive it gets so I think would be nice bring this for
2010.0.

tks.

I've have tried odf-converter as an extension, but it doesn't seem to work,
at least it gives the same error on all the .docx files i tried to open
as without the extension,
if you would only use the mandriva OOo packages.
Is there a way to build an openoffice extension from a program that's
already compiled?

So far the odf-converter i built works, now it comes to testing and
integration.
One question bugs me a bit: I'd like to override the systemwide mime
stuff, is this possible
without changing shared-mime-info or the like? In particular i'd like to
update
the extension patterns and the icons, as the provided gnome icons are
really ugly
and i think the icons should look like the ms program icons so that
users recognize their documents easier.
Or at least other desktop environments should be able to use other
icons, but how to to that?
I already found such icons, they're GPL'ed and i have the mime stuff but
it has no effect.

I'll upload the src.rpm and the SPEC somewhere and then report back here ...
