[Cooker] 2010 Free first time wizard: imposible to continue without doing all steps

Hi,

The first time wizard seems pretty broken, if I decline all steps I
will get a screen with the following text and a "prevous" button that
will take me again to the first step of the wizard:

"Thank you for your time. We value your feedback and hope you wil
enjoy your new Mandriva Linux system.

The Mandriva Team."

If I cancel on any of the steps I get a screen with a text sayng that
I have decided to cancel the first time wizard but I can run it again
etc etc etc,  with a back button that will also will take me back to
the beginning of the wizard instad of letting me go through, so at
this point I haven't been able to enter to my new system without
registering, answering the survey and sending the hardware report.

Now, if I sign in with my account, answer the survey and try to upload
the hardware report I get the same text from the beginning with the
previous button which takes me back to the upload hardware report
screen, but then if I press next I get an error of "the file is not
valid" bewcause the file wasn't uploaded.,

So, at this point it seems that it's impossible to finish the
installation as there's no way to avoid the first time wizard or
finish it successfully.

Is anyone else seeing this and how can I workaround it ???

Juancho

It has a usability issue, in that the last screen does not exit. You have to
click the close button in the bottom right corner.

Good, I'm not the only which have problem with close button

Yep, it is a pretty strange design from the usability POV. I got tripped up by
it as well.

Oh my god that button is almost invisible ! it is completely out if
sight when you are focused on the survey rectangle at the top of the
screen: Now that you told me about that button I still had a hard time
finding it.

Thanks for the tip.

I would say that this is a candidate for the errata unless we want to get
blasted by reviewers that Mandriva is forcing people to take surveys and
register somewhere (not even Microsoft does that).

It is an ugly workaround because webkit-gtk doesn't seem to handle
"close" button correctly (unlike gecko which was used before), so we had
to move close button outside html. We know it isn't great at the bottom
so we wanted to move it at the top of the window but it was done in time
for the release.

Since the survey is in HTML, I assume someone at Mandriva could change the
last page, which could help users find the button.

Please can it have some text added to it telling the user they can now close
the survey by clicking on the close button at the bottom right.

Really ugly... I tried everything else (and Ctrl+Alt+Bakspace is now disabled
by default 8^E ) before I've found it!

That's a real big mistake!
