[Cooker] Java for 2008.1

What's going to be the Java installation plan for 2008.1?

It would seem to be a no-brainer to have the Iced Tea browser plugin
installed by default in Free. How about One and Powerpack? Do we have
any plan to evaluate whether Iced Tea is of good enough quality to
replace upstream Sun Java as the default? I think we should prefer this,
if possible, on the basis of open source being Good.

A similar question could be asked about Flash, actually. I've been
trying out Gnash again lately and found it a lot better than last time
(doesn't use 100% CPU playing back YouTube videos any more). Is this
being evaluated too?

Thanks.

Not sure this is a good idea for Powerpack. Most of us that uses java
use the Sun verion plus the jdk. I would have welcomed Netbeans 6
enterprise pack in 2008.1, including glassfish and openportalserver

What about swfdec? Some friends have been saying good things about it,
should be avaluated too, I think.

Only remember that on x86_64 icedtea should be the default for ALL
mandriva versions, as there is no other java that provides plugin for 64
bits browser and nspluginwrapper doesn't support java plugin yet

Gnash works better every day, but there are still a lot of webpages that
still require flashplayer :-(, personally, I prefer default to
nspluginwrapper+flashplayer (for amd64). It works ok (at least with
epiphany). On the other hand, I have seen that fedora-dev (8 and coming
fedora9) applies some patches to nspluginwrapper that could be
interesting:
ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/Fedora/development/source/SRPMS/nspluginwrapper-0.9.91.5-16.fc9.src.rpm

Thanks

Any reason Iced Tea plugin shows such a horrible font?

Still, Gnash doesn't open most things properly.

Javascript integration support is missing:
http://icedtea.classpath.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=85

Also Java Web Start is not included.

But indeed I think icedtea plugin should be installed in Free (and on
other flavors on x86_64, for which no sun plugin exists).

Sounds like this:
http://icedtea.classpath.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65

I'm using a proprietary java application at work (let's even say that
without that application I have no job) and it doesn't work with Icedtea
(currently).
