[Cooker] Minimum of RAM

Hi!
I'd like to set up Mandriva Linux as an firewall and router. Does
someone know minimum value of RAM? It was 48 MB for text-mode and 64MB
for graphic mode. Does it changed? Has anyone tried it?
Thanks
Petos

From Mandriva 2007 onward, 256 MB of RAM has been required for
Mandriva.  I was able to install 2007 on a Gateway Pentium 4
with 128 MB RAM, but could not make it stable and dropped back
to 2006.1 (which it is still running as printer server and
backup machine).

Cheers!

UNIX is not user unfriendly; it merely

The text mode CD installer can work with 64MB but you
must be very patient to wait for feedback after keyboard
input.

Just for fun, I installed Mandriva 2010.0 RC2 on an AMD
K6-233 with 96MB.  With IceWM and Arora, I can even
browse the web.  :)

(Yes, I have a strange definition of "fun".)  ;)

Hi!

I'm running 2009.1 on a notebook with (normally) 256 MB of RAM using LXDE, but
from time to time (about every third boot) the notebook does only see half of
it's RAM (some damage to the hardware, I think).
Mdv is running with those 128MB of RAM, but I'm using a pure openbox then and
you have to be patient, when using progs needing much RAM like Firefox.
