[Cooker] Missing System menu entries under KDE4I have just reinstalled KDE4 (4.1.0) and it is working for the first
time since the migration, but the menu entries for 'Configure your Computer' (drakconf) and 'System Settings' (appears to only be in favourites) appear to no longer be in the menus. What is necessary to get them back. Also as an off topic issue, most of the menus have significantly increased in length, with some of them on a 1280x1024 resolution expanding to two columns, because a lot of the entries are duplicated. Presumably and entry for KDE4 and one for KDE3. Is this a side effect of /etc/profile.d/91kde3.sh adding /usr/share & /opt/kde3/share to the XDG_DATA_DIRS environment and exporting it, and /etc/profile.d/kde4env.sh exporting XDG_DATA_DIRS & PATH even though it does not set them? regards, Steve [samorris.vcf] begin:vcard fn:Steve Morris n:Morris;Steve email;internet:samorris@... x-mozilla-html:TRUE version:2.1 end:vcard |

The problem is not only with MCC here, but MCC shows the problem. I previously explained on bugzilla (https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=41985#c1), why drakconf AND all applications configured to appear in the System tab of kickoff menu, don't appear in the classical menu (http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=809648). It's a good design for kickoff, but with bads effects for simplelauncher. This feature should be used only for kickoff and not for simplelauncher, or simplelauncher should have a menu entry for System Application. We have the choice between these 2 alternatives, and perhaps others. The bugs or wrong features in simplelauncher concern mainly Mandriva, because Mandriva currently uses by default the classical menu (it seems that most of others distribs have made the choice to use kickoff, the default menu in kde 4). I don't say that the classical menu is a bad choice, I don't like kickoff!! just my 2 cents. best regards, Luc |
