1) as stated, you lack a target name
(eg it should have been "linux mem=512")

2) "mem=" is a kernel parameter that grub knows nothing about.
   thus it's useless

it display the message again by pressing enter.

Thierry have right, linux mem=512, but when it's a live cd, just add
"live" before the "linux mem=512" and the kernel boot.

i test again tomorrow, no time for that tonight.

Is the kernel smart enough deduce that 512 really means 512M?

'live mem=512M' or 'linux mem=512M' would seem more correct.

And as Mieszko said, making it bit less might be better, especially if
there's a shared-memory graphics card.

Type key [TAB] and you see the txt version of menu.

Type e-edit, and the and of line write

kernel/linux/live  parameter1 parameter2 p3 p4 ......  mem=256M vga=771

or 128M if you have big framebuffer (and/or decrease in BIOS to the
lower capacity).

try change video mode as in this table:
+-----------------------------------------+---------+
| VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x64k | vga=791 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x32k | vga=790 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256 | vga=773 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 800x600x64k  | vga=788 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 800x600x32k  | vga=787 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 800x600x256  | vga=771 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 640x480x64k  | vga=785 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 640x480x32k  | vga=784 |
| VESA framebuffer console @ 640x480x256  | vga=769 |
+-----------------------------------------+---------+

If your system start OK - on the console type 'free' and send us result.

Next:=> type: cat /proc/meminfo - and send in post.

type: => lspci | grep VGA

Needed more info about your hardware!
