Hi,
David Barron has reported this interesting behaviour while using jack
with pulse audio.
Sounds like a bug. Anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers.

Pulse update:
I do not know what starts pulseaudio on my system--something in kde4. I would
really like more control over this stuff, i.e., to nice out of the way all the
daemons that slow kde4 to a crawl.
If I kill it and restart:
pulseaudio --daemonize --realtime -L module-jack-sink
It will start with jack running and then work with or without jack.
Sink ports do NOT appear on jack output devices.
mplayer -ao pulse will work, better with jack than without. Xrun.
ogg123 with no -d will not work
ogg123 -d pulse will work. Can be problematic, however.
Current pulse, as stated, does not work well with jack. But it does work.
Dbus-daemon owned by messagebus... and hald owned by haldaemon... are
apparently around in order to start pulse at all! They do not get in the way
until one loads pulse with a module-jack... plugin. Then one is stuck with
them slowing kde4 and everything else, even after killing pulseaudio. Kill one
of the daemons, pulse audio will not start up again in this session.
If pulse is started without the jack modules, the daemons do not get out of
hand. Pulse does not get in the way.
