I'm afraid there's no election for my position. So I took it upon myself to volunteer for the position[1] and got a favorable result[2]. Although I got a few thumbs up from the community, I haven't received any objections so far. > I > understand the frustration and it looks like you guys need a reformation > of sorts. I'm just curious of what's going on. It's mostly due to lack of motivation that led to our lethargic state. There's really no one to blame for what has happened since everyone in our community have been busy with both their personal lives and career. My predecessor has, unfortunately, decided to pursue projects outside of Ubuntu. It is a career move, and everyone in the community is happy for him. But this left us with no leader/s to guide us. We waited for any signs of life from the community, but besides a few "Breaking News" on the Mailing List, there has only been emptiness. That's when I stepped up and requested for that position. I cannot, in good graces, allow the Philippine Team to fade away. The founders of our Team (Jerome Gotangco, Irvin Piraman, Zak Elep, Yolynne Medina, Ealdan Escanan, and Eric Pareja) dedicated a good portion of their time and effort in creating this team. I will not let it go to waste. Other LoCos may have the impression that there's some sort of conflict in our community, but I don't believe that is the case here. Now Launchpad is one (if not The) best community tool I've ever used. I plan on using it to its' full potential since right now, it's just idling "over there". I wish for our team to take ownership of untranslated projects, link Tagalog Translation Bugs, and Answer questions on, er.., Answers. I also wish to make use of Blueprint for Planning and Roadmapping, to collaborate in achieving our goals. A few members also expressed their interest to write WhitePapers for Internet Cafes(they're literally popping up like mushrooms) and Call Centers... and we can use Codes for versioning and, again, collaborate on it. > You may wish to contact the Ubuntu United States LoCo.
