Hi, I'm overdue for sleep now, but would like to know if anyone is up to
packaging Quanta 3.5.X so that it works on Debian with KDE 4.3.0?

Rosegarden and Quanta are the main reason that I run KDE.

Arthur.

With the upload of KDE 4.3, this has become a lot harder. Old
kdebase-data and
kdebase-runtime are no longer co-installable (intentionally). We have
stated
many times that we are NOT willing to support KDE 3.5 desktop in sid. We
have
also stated that we are willing to help other people to get some KDE3 apps
like Quanta working with KDE 4 desktop (with proper (re)packaging of it).
Therefore, you are very welcome to start (re)packaging Quanta.

Alternatively, you can hack binary package Depends: field and see it if the
end result works without some dependencies.

Hi

I just updated to 4.3 on Kubuntu (worth it). I noticed that the updater wanted
to remove Quanta as it depends on certain '=' 3.5 packages that have been
updated to 4.30.
To solve it, I did the update, removed quanta and reinstalled it after the
update. This solution downgraded the dependencies back to 3.50 and Quanta runs
ok. I don't need kfilereplace 4.3 etc for anything else.

Not sure if that will work in Debian, but it may help as they are both APT
based.

Cheers
James
