Use unix-maven-plugin to create rpm, deb and pkg packages?
-----------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: RTFACT-1602
                 URL: http://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-1602
             Project: Artifactory
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Installer
         Environment: unix
            Reporter: Erik Drolshammer
            Assignee: Yoav Landman

While the setup for installing Artifactory on Linux kinda works, it is very complex and error-prone. And Solaris is not supported.
Have you considered using unix-maven-plugin and appassembler-maven-plugin instead?

See http://wiki.community.objectware.no/display/smidigtonull/RPM+Deployment+with+Java+Service+Wrapper for and example on how to set this up. The example only shows rpm, but the plugin also supports deb and pkg.

Keywords: generate Java Service wrapper start scripts, automated installation with rpm, run as non-root user and privs are set correctly during installation, correct run levels with synlinks.
