 Turbo Squid is the world’s leading seller of 3D Models and 3D Application Plug-ins. The company is 6 years old with 25 employees and has kept its small company mindset of cooperation and teamwork. The company’s core business is providing content to the 3D development community, but now Turbo Squid is expanding into game production. With the recent Louisiana law granting a 20% tax credit subsidy on game production in the state, Turbo Squid is in a unique position to succeed in this industry.

Role:

The software engineer is responsible for working on the front and back end in a vast e-commerce marketplace. You’ll get the chance to work on straight web development, client and server development for Windows, and coding for various game engines as our marketplace is extended to the computer game world. The ideal candidate is someone who loves to play games, enjoys having their work in front of millions of users, and lives in the New Orleans area. The candidate doesn’t have to work onsite everyday, but must be able to easily come to the home office. The main technologies used are ColdFusion (compiled to Java bytecode), MS VC++, and SQL Server 2k.


Skills & Qualifications:

• Expert ColdFusion MX or .NET Web Development
• Expert Windows VC++ Application Development
• MS SQL Server 2k
• Education requirements include an education in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics Courses
• Mastery of software engineering best practices
• Must have at least two year experience & strong understanding of C++
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Bonus Points for:

• Project management skills
• QA and development process expertise
• Avid game playing and strong interest in pushing the industry forward creatively
• Ability to analyze existing code bases and work with game engine APIs.
• Experience with 3D Studio Max, Maxscript, and add-ins
• Experience with UnrealScript, Hammer, Lua
• Knowledge of video game programming techniques
