Hi,

I'll be glad to join the MapFish PSC members.

Some of you already know me. Unfortunately I have not been able to join the FOSS4G this year (I was in Cape Town last year and in Lausanne in 2006).

To be brief, my background is agro-economics. I then completed my education with a diploma at the French Mapping Institute Engineering school.

I am working now with an international organization, but I also had previous experience with local government in French Guyana.

After 3 years in Accra, as the UNHCR regional GIS officer for West Africa, I am now a data management officer at UNHCR Budapest Global Service Center.

We are using Mapfish for our GeoPortal: http://geoportal.unhcr.org (Note that there are more UN agencies that are now looking at Mapfish to develop their own GeoPortal.)

My profile is more on the user side. I am not a developer but I know how to deploy and configure the framework. We contracted with Camptocamp for the development of new features in Mapfish (mostly online edition, but also the gears protocol, and recently a SSO connector for JASIG CAS ...check MapFishUnhcr sandbox on the commit list).

We are now looking at the following directions:

- Enabling offline/sync use of Mapfish for users with limited bandwidth… we worked with gears but now HTML5 is coming in…

- Integration with SOLAP tools to link our GeoPortal with our Enterprise Resources planning

I would be happy to contribute to the discussion about the future of this project.

Thanks and best regards,

Edouard

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in MapFish community.

Just to be clear, the call for interest made after the BoF is not for
PSC membership, but for the constituent assembly. This is a call to
any person interested in giving feedback, advice on how to organize
the MapFish community. During the BoF, it was decided to proceed in
two phases, in order to be as open and inclusive as possible to define
the future organization of MapFish community.

The proper PSC will be formed in a second phase, with rules yet to be defined.
