[OT] why nodm instead of xinit in a loop?

Sorry for the off topic question, but I expect to find here the adepts.

What is the advantage of using nodm instead of xinit in a loop? It works
both in my setup and maybe I save a little bit typing with nodm, but is
this all it is good for?
