Hi,
this week Marc and I worked on some problems with trackers in an envionment where some users can export or administrate some trackers but not all trackers. We realized that Admin Trackers was poorly WYSIWYCA.
After making Admin Trackers WYSIWYCA (see r40156), there are very differences left between Admin Trackers and List Trackers.
Primarily, Admin Trackers offers actions on each tracker via icons. This is IMO something desirable when you are in List Trackers. Offering these from List Trackers would prevent confusion from new administrators who aren't yet used to our List vs Admin concept.
Admin Trackers also offers to create new trackers with a tab and a button. Again, this is IMO desirable. One effect of this difference is that Admin Trackers uses tabs. A mere reader will only see a "Trackers" tab.
Admin Trackers has an "Id" column. This is useful in some cases, but does clutter the interface a bit. I am not touching this column for now, but suggestions to find a balance between informing and cluttering would be welcome.
And I think that's it.
As I see very few general disadvantages with Admin Trackers instead of List Trackers, we are planning to merge the two. The only real usability regressions of Admin Trackers for the mere reader I see are the Action column, which at least contains a view link, and the Id column. The Action column could be conditionally removed when it would only contain view icons if others consider that effort as necessary for merging.
If there are no objections, we may proceed to the merge as soon as tomorrow (in about 24 hours).
Thank you
