Implement the "Delegation of Authentication" feature as described here: http://directory.apache.org/apacheds/1.5/delegation-of-authentication.html .  The description of analgous functionality in the Fedora/389 directory server is here: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/8.1/admin/Using_the_Pass_through_Authentication_Plug_in.html

It is currently unknown as to whether this feature could be implemented rather simply as a custom authenticator, or whether this implementation would require virtual attributes (described by ticket #1067.)
