The purpose is to define a same goal, platform wide, for every maven 2 project.

The use case i have is :
Stroke a key and launch a custom goal on the current project or file
or on the selected directories or files provided in a defined property

for example call checkstyle for all selected files
or call jetty start/stop on the current project.
