Then I tried both the command line -t option (output attached) and the GUI option. In either case, a large section of the word got lost.. From the bottom, you can scroll up and look for reference #4 which exists but references 1 - 3 don't.. You will also find that a page or so of the original document is missing! It is not clear what about this document caused this behavior.

Attaching the troublesome doc file here in case it becomes unavailable at the given URL.

This could either be a POI issue or a problem in the way Tika uses POI. It would be great if someone had time to look at this in more detail.
