[kopete-devel] Help needed - format of old kopete logs

Hi,
In this years summer of code, I worked on the kopete's history plugin so that it can save its chat logs in akonadi.
While that works, I also need to modify the "converter.cpp" file such that, it migrates the old logs of kopete, into akonadi if user wishes.
The problem I am having is that, I haven't use Kde of version earlier than 4.2, so my knowledge on old format in which kopete used to save logs is zilch.
If someone can let me know
1) What were the different old formats that kopete used to use, and
2) At what location it used to get saved, it will be cool, so the migrator can search for it.
   

I will be glad, if i can get some samples :-)

Hi,

The Kopete history format has IIRC not changed much since Kopete 0.7
This was in 2003, even before Kopete was integreted with KDE.

While I probably still have some logs from that time, I do not think it is
required to support the conversion of them.
I don't think someone will switch from KDE 3.1 to KDE 4.4 and expect his
Kopete logs to be kept.

functionality is added to Kopete, I for one will very much appreciate it.

As for the log file format, it has indeed stayed pretty much the same
over the years but the files have moved in the directory hierarchy a bit.

Even if you have logs from Kopete 0.6 or older, they already should have been
converted to the Kopete 0.7 format. (but the converter did not remove the
originals)

Ok. Its cool then, i will just add a migratory tool, that will read the current logs and migrate it into the akonadi Server.
