Ok, I was able to reproduce your problem here from the error log info:
It seems Pydev is not dealing well with problems in the .pydevproject file (in
that case, your .pydevproject in your Playground project).
I've reproduced the problem by creating a non-parseable xml file as .pydevproject
(which I believe is your problem). Can you create a bug-report with that and
attach your .project and .pydevproject files in that project so that I can check
if that's indeed the problem?
