r15416 pushes some fixes to 64bit Intel so that we can handle GC.
Unfortunately code in Classpath needs JNI and var args aren't yet
supported (RVM-717). So what's gating 64bit support on Intel is in the
JNI code saving parameters to a volatile area and then in the var arg
JNI helper reading arguments from this volatile area. This code exists
on PPC but hasn't been necessary on 32bit Intel as arguments were
always on the stack. If you'd like to fix this issue please assign
RVM-717 to yourself.
