[rvm-core] Regression testing IA32 OS/X

Hi,

I believe IA32 OS/X is now working again (thanks to Kenneth Hoste). We
should add it to the support matrix:

http://docs.codehaus.org/display/RVM/Building+the+RVM

but I'm wary of doing so until regression tests are being run. Any
progress on the set up of the machine at ANU?

Regards,
Ian

There's been a machine there for a long time.  I recently renamed it
paprika.   It is running OS X 10.4.

I'm not sure what your question above is in reference to.  Did you
want an OS upgrade?

Cheers,

I'm not sure what version of OS X is best to run, I guess the latest
will be what most people try. Paprika still needs the normal cron and
cattrack set up. I'd be happy to do this if there were some documentation.

Thanks,
Ian

I will start the process of upgrading to 10.5 today (may have to wait
on our tech people getting hold of the media etc etc etc).   You can
forge ahead with the regression set up in the meantime.

I've not set one up before, but AFAIK it's all here: http://jikesrvm.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/jikesrvm/admin/
I expect it will just be a matter of you cloning the files from a
similar machine.

Great, presumably in the morning here it will be ready. I'll try to
clone a cattrack set up and ping you if there are any of the usual
missing file or permission problems.

Thanks,
Ian

Hi Steve,

I can't ssh on to paprika. I see:

ssh: connect to host paprika port 22: No route to host

from ANU machines and Manchester.

Hi Ian,

The upgrade to OS X 10.5 is underway.   I may have to head home before
it has finished.  Either way, it should be available to you in less
than 24 hrs.

Cheers,

Strange, maybe it is rebooting or something. I currently see:

ssh: connect to host paprika.anu.edu.au port 22: No route to host

from both Manchester and from habanero.anu.edu.au.

Hmm. I suspect it has some sleep option enabled, as I could log in not too long before your message. I can look at it tomorrow if nobody else gets there first.

Cheers,

OK.  Fixed now.

The default install had the machine going to sleep after some amount of idle time.

I also applied all the updates, so it is now at 10.5.5.

Please yell if there are any further problems.
